(Interview following the screening of Innocence)

“In Mimi, childhood was explored through a very anguished lens. In Innocence, it was more a kind of unease and anticipation, with this very childlike idea that the world holds a real mystery that is hard to grasp, and that this gives rise in the child to a desire to recreate the world in their own way.

This is one of the reasons why I really enjoy telling stories with children. There are so many things to explore around this theme. I am particularly fond of films that depict childhood—not necessarily in terms of its harshness, but rather in the way they create worlds through a child’s gaze.” LH
